RHO partnerships receive two CIHR funded Research Grants
We are pleased to announce that Rainbow Health Ontario, a program of Sherbourne Health Centre, is a coinvestigator on two grants that have been funded by CIHR (the Canadian Institutes for Health Research) in the last month. The Principal Investigator on both of these grants is Dr. Lori Ross, who has worked in partnership with RHO and SHC on many community-based research projects in the past. Part of RHO's mandate is to build capacity for LGBT health research in Canada and support researchers to disseminate the findings of their work. Our primary role on both of these grants is to ensure that the findings from the research are shared with service providers, policy makers and LGBT communities.
The first study explores mental health among bisexual people in Ontario. It is based on a pilot study that was conducted by a partnership involving Sherbourne Health Centre and the Social, Equity and Health Research Section of CAMH. Our partnership received $402,768 over 3 years for this grant.
The second study explores depression and access to depression services among lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans women in Ontario. In this study our partnership received $297,452 over 2 years.
