The Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres (CKCHC) is pleased to announce that we now provide services to transgender children and youth in the Chatham-Kent and surrounding area.

 

Services include:

  • assessment and diagnosis of gender dysphoria;
  • management of common comorbid mental health conditions;
  • assessing for appropriateness of hormone blockers (GnRH agonists) and gender-confirming hormone therapy;
  • prescription of hormones or hormone blockers and coordinate medical monitoring of treatment as appropriate.

 

Dr. Ian Johnston is leading these services. Dr Johnston is a general consulting paediatrician with ten years of experience dealing with transgender children and youth in Chatham-Kent.

 

Referrals from physicians or nurse practitioners are strongly encouraged, but we will accept persons without access to primary care.

 

As this is a paediatric clinic, referrals are limited to individuals 18 years of age and younger.
