Despite unprecedented social and legal recognition of LGBTQ families in Canada, close to half the population
continues to believe that we should be denied the right to parent. These tensions underlie the experience of
LGBTQ families as we continue to bring children into our lives in increasing numbers. This talk will review
some key historic moments in the history of LGBTQ parenting in Canada, and explore the impact of this history
on the lives of LGBTQ parents and their children.
