Lindsay Elin Psychotherapy and Counselling

I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) who provides psychotherapy and counselling services to adults, youth and families in Toronto.

Areas of specialization include: working with individuals and families around issues related to sexual orientation and gender identity, working with parents of LGBTQ+ youth and young adults (including parents who are struggling to understand/accept their child’s gender identity), supporting couples to navigate the challenges of gender identity/transition on their relationship, working around issues of depression, anxiety and healing from abuse, strengthening parent-child relationships, working with youth who are struggling with depression, suicidal feelings and self-harming behaviours, working around issues of sexuality and sexual health. I have a particular interest in supporting queer and trans people as they work to bring children into their lives, navigate queer/trans conception realities, fertility clinics, surrogacy options and/or adoption processes, and adjust to their lives as new parents.

I am trained in multiple therapeutic modalities – the approach we take will be responsive to your unique needs and goals. I am particularly influenced by attachment-informed therapies, trauma-focused therapies, mindfulness-based therapy, emotion-focused therapy (EFT) and somatic/Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (completed Level 1). Since 2013 I have been pursuing certification in Attachment-Focused Family Therapy (Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA), which is an evidence-based approach for working with depressed youth and their families, and which has been researched with LGBTQ+ youth/young adults, and their families. I work from an anti-oppressive, harm reduction framework.

I would be honoured to support you and/or your family through life’s challenges and transitions. Please do not hesitate to contact me for a free telephone consultation to discuss how I can be of support to you.
