Mind-body Practices for Party and Play (PnP) and 2SGBTQ men

This  factsheet is about holistic self-care for two-spirit, gay, bisexual, trans and queer men (2SGBTQ+) who engage in chemsex or PnP – using substances like crystal meth, GHB or other drugs to enhance sexual encounters and pleasure. It provides practical information on how substances used during PnP impact the body and mind and includes self-care strategies and resources.

Topics include:

  • What is self-care, self awareness, mental and emotional health?
  • Understanding how PnP drugs may affect your body, such as the sympathetic and parasympathetic parts of the autonomic nervous system, creating a cascading effect in the body.
  • Short-Term Effects of PnP on the Nervous System
  • Gut Microbiome in Sexual Health and Well-Being
  • Hydrate your body, nourish your body and mind
  • Good mood foods
  • Mindful practices; practice breathing and relaxation techniques
  • Resources, videos, and apps to explore coping strategies, counselling and avoiding triggers.

This factsheet has three postcards for community members for easy access to self care, staying hydrated, and  PnP affect on the body.  This document was the research work of  graduate students’ project in the 2024 CHL5114H Health Communication course at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto.
