Rainbow Health Ontario’s Year in Review
As we begin a new fiscal year, our team is reflecting on the progress made in advancing 2SLGBTQ+ health equity over the past 12 months. From award-winning education to expanded resources and partnerships, here are some of our key achievements.
- Launched a new learning management system, successfully migrating more than 23,000 learners.
- Engaged nearly 7,000 learners through self-directed and instructor-led courses.
- Provided clinical support in 626 interactions to healthcare practitioners across Ontario.
- Delivered 34 consultations to more than 20 organizations on improving care for 2SLGBTQ+ clients.
- Hosted RHO in Conversation: SickKids Transgender Clinic with 146 participants.
- Advised Ontario Health’s Quality Standards office monthly on developing quality standards for gender-affirming care for adults.
- Launched a new course on 2SLGBTQ+ perinatal care, addressing gaps in reproductive health education.
- Produced seven gender-affirming surgery summary sheets and a patient resource on preparing for surgery.
- Released two new podcast episodes for 2SLGBTQ Health in Focus.
- Published 10 newsletters with updates and resources.
These accomplishments would not have been possible without the dedication of our team, partners and community.
Addressing 2SLGBTQ+ Cancer Disparities
This April, we launched Be Seen. Get Screened., a province-wide campaign to improve cancer screening awareness and accessibility for 2SLGBTQ+ communities. The initiative includes print materials mailed to more than 400 organizations and Pride events, out-of-home advertising across Ontario, and educational resources like our podcast episode Cancer Screening and 2SLGBTQ+ Communities.
You can help amplify this work by ordering free posters for your organization, sharing campaign messages using our social media toolkit or tagging @rainbowhealthontario when you spot our ads in your community. Together, we can close the gap in 2SLGBTQ+ cancer care.
