Experience in LGBT2SQ research

Ashley has extensive expertise in the areas of socio-cultural gerontological and leisure perspectives, social justice and diversity, qualitative research methodologies, and social theory. Specifically, her dissertation research explored transgender and non-binary older adults’ experiences, perceptions, and desires of/for community support within Southern Ontario. She is currently working on a project with Egale Canada to explore the experiences and needs of LGBTQI2S people living with dementia and their unpaid primary carers in Canada.

Interest in LGBT2SQ research

Ashley’s research focuses on 2SLGBTQIA+ ageing and old age with the goal of advancing comprehensive health and wellness policy, programs, and services for older adults with diverse gender and sexual identities.
