Experience in LGBT2SQ research

I am a postdoctoral fellow who is expanding her research into the area of fathers and gender diverse parents. I am leading a scoping review to explore the non-birthing parent’s experience of parenting self-efficacy during the first year postpartum. I am also leading an online survey to explore the postpartum experience of fathers and gender diverse parents. Finally, I am developing a text message intervention for the non-birthing parent during the first 6 weeks postpartum to improve parental self-efficacy and improve postpartum mental health.

Interest in LGBT2SQ research

The transition to parenthood is an exciting yet demanding period that requires physical, emotional, and social adjustment to new norms and expectations. While there is significant focus on the transition for mothers (cis gendered female, birthing person), the non-birthing partner (e.g., cis gendered males, fathers, 2SLGBTQ+ partners) are less supported in the transition to parenthood. I am interested in understanding the postpartum experience for fathers and gender diverse parents in order to design better interventions to improve their postpartum experience and health outcomes.
