This curriculum on trans-affirming care in the sexual assault context includes a general introduction to the issue (Key Terms, Experiences of Sexual Assault, and Interactions with Healthcare) as well as core elements for the practice of forensic nursing (Initial Assessment, Medical Care, Forensic Examination, and Discharge & Referral). Although based on competencies for forensic sexual assault nurses (Du Mont et al., 2019), the information in this curriculum may have wider applicability in your practice as a general healthcare or social service provider. This curriculum is evidence-informed, developed and evaluated in collaboration with trans community members and their allies, and free-of-charge for those who complete the request form. This curriculum, comprising a training module, facilitator’s guide, and training manual, is ideal for those wishing to lead an in-person training at their organization.
