Shaping A Culture of Respect in Our Schools: Promoting Safe and Healthy Relationships

This Safe Schools Action Team Report focuses on making recommendations to the Minister of Education on ways of preventing and addressing gender-based violence, homophobia, sexual harassment, and inappropriate sexual behaviour by students towards other students. It makes a number of recommendations on ways to make it easier for students to report incidents, to help schools support and respond to students who are victims of these types of behaviour, and to assist school staff in supporting these students. Several recommendations have also been made as a result of a review of all Local Police/School Board Protocols to ensure that they align with the Provincial Model.
