Dr. Leah Zalan received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from York University, and completed her residency at the Centre for Addiction & Mental Health, working with individuals with mood and anxiety disorders, as well as borderline personality disorder. Dr. Zalan works with adults, adolescents, and couples. She provides assessment/therapy for individuals with OCD, mood & anxiety disorders, self-esteem and relationship issues, personal growth needs, and other interpersonal and stress-related difficulties. Dr. Zalan uses a CBT framework, but integrates other treatment modalities and skills to uniquely meet client needs.  In addition, Dr. Zalan provides dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT)-informed and mindfulness-based treatments. She further specializes in the treatment of body-focused repetitive behaviours (BFRBs), including trichotillomania & skin picking.
Dr. Zalan’s PhD research focused on how to effectively deliver mindfulness-based and CBT techniques to individuals in the community, as well as to those especially vulnerable to depression. Dr. Zalan is registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (#5664), and is a member of the Ontario Psychological Association.
Dr. Zalan teaches psychology courses at various universities at the undergraduate and graduate level, and trains residents in Clinical Psychology at the York University Psychology Clinic. She also collaborates in research at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Dr. Zalan is available for virtual private practice clients from Monday to Friday, 9 to 5pm.
