MSW, RSW
I have a Master’s Degree in Social Work – Health and Mental Health Specialization – (MSW, RSW). I am trained in CBT, DBT, Narrative Therapy, ACT, Yoga, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused CBT, Mental Heatlh First Aid, Safe Talk, and suicide intervention.
I identify as a queer femme woman of colour. I am trauma-informed, having worked for many years with survivors of sexual, state-based, and intimate partner violence. I have worked on anti-racist models of mental health and recognize that racism is a social determinant of health, am knowledgeable of the healthy immigrant effect and have been part of a refugee mental health community of practice. I also led a program to offer Black, Indigenous and women of colour violence prevention workshops that won an award from the Quebec Ministry of Health. I have worked extensively in LGBTQ communities from running Positive Space to working on building Queer and Trans resilience. I strive to work from an anti-oppression, intersectional approach.
I am accepting referrals via my Psychology Today website and do offer some sliding scale: https://www.psychologytoday.com/ca/therapists/heidi-mehta-toronto-on/445584 .
