Ivana Kolakovic, Registered Psychotherapist

I am a Registered Psychotherapist. My approach to therapy is somatic and relational – this simply means that I invite my clients to become curious about their emotions. As these emotions emerge in our contact together, I will gently encourage you to bring them to your awareness and find where you store them within your body. In this way, I will support you to reclaim your innate ways of being in your body by unlearning the harmful beliefs that we adopted while navigating numerous systems of oppression.

I strive to create a warm and safe space for my clients to explore and uncover themselves. My practice is trans, queer, fat and sex worker affirming and I welcome those who want to explore their sexuality, gender identity, and alternative relationship styles.

I am also enrolled in the Advanced Somatic Experiencing training for trauma resolution, and I support folks recovering from interpersonal violence, childhood abuse and psychosocal trauma (including war and immigration). Additionally, my work at the Distress Centre provides me with extensive experience in crisis management and suicide prevention.
