Psychotherapy with Julia

My name is Julia Normoyle (she/her) and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). When working with individuals, I prioritize collaboration and working with your unique needs. I believe that you are the expert on yourself, and come first and foremost from a person-centred approach in my work. I work from a trauma-informed lens and my goal is to empower you on your journey towards personal growth and healing.

My therapeutic approach is integrative, and I use and draw from a variety of approaches and modalities in my work. These include Narrative Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT).

Driven by my interest in psychology and strong desire to support others on their individual paths, I sought out a degree in psychology, where I knew I wanted to continue my education to further my skills. I then completed a graduate certificate program specializing in addictions and mental health, where I continued to find my love for counselling and providing care for those going through life’s challenges. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I have always been passionate about working with those who are also LGBTQ+ identifying, and strive to provide affirming care in a safe and non-judgemental environment.

Throughout my experience, I facilitated groups for those with depression and anxiety in community mental health for 4 years, and have worked in healthcare with those experiencing challenges with substance use, addiction, and concurrent disorders for over 1.5 years. It continues to be a privilege to have the opportunity to work with those with diverse needs and backgrounds, and I strive to always provide anti-oppressive care and come from a place of cultural humility.
