We have develop an innovative peer support program for LGBT caregivers, matching volunteers with lived experience with caregivers who may face barriers accessing services due to their sexual orientation. Volunteers will undergo extensive training and will build capacity around leadership and community engagement, while program participants will be supported and empowered in their caregiving roles in a safe, welcoming environment that meets their individual needs. SPRINT Senior Care will facilitate a combination of formal and informal peer support, incorporating opportunities for education and resource sharing; as well as enabling organic relationship building between the volunteers and participants who can connect in a way that works best for them (in-person, phone, video and/or online chat). In order to achieve project sustainability, a toolkit will be created and shared with other senior-serving organizations seeking to deliver a similar program. This project will take place in Toronto and is facilitated in English. If you are interested please contact The Community Program Lead at 416-481-0669 Ext. 295, Priynka.patil@sprintseniorcare.org
