What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy, discovered by Dr. A.T. Still in 1874. Osteopathic manual practitioners
understand that the body functions as a unit, is capable of self-healing and self-regulation, and that the body’s ability to
function is based upon its structural integrity. Through gentle manipulation, practitioners aim to restore movement
where it has been lost and improve the quality of arterial, venous, nervous and lymphatic flow. By removing
obstructions to this flow, the body demonstrates an amazing ability to heal.

Who Can Benefit?

Osteopathy can help individuals of any age, with both acute and chronic ailments. While osteopathic manual
practitioners do not specifically treat diagnoses or medical conditions, osteopathic care can reduce symptoms and improve overall health. Some ailments that may benefit from osteopathic treatment include: acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain, sports injuries, repetitive strain injuries, headaches, breathing issues, digestive complaints, male and female reproductive issues, fatigue and difficulty sleeping.
