Researcher Background
Dr. Drew B. A. Clark leads the Healthcare Ethics & Equity Team. They are a Certified Healthcare Ethics Consultant (HEC-C) and Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) whose clinical work has primarily been in mental health, substance use, palliative, pediatric, and gender-affirming care. For the past 10 years, they have been involved in research with transgender, Two-Spirit, and nonbinary people, including in developing a research agenda for transgender, Two-Spirit, and nonbinary youth in Canada.
Purpose of this Research Project
The purpose of this study is to develop a research agenda and knowledge translation products for transgender, Two-Spirit, and nonbinary (TTNB) health through identification of current health information gaps. We will ask TTNB adults across Canada to share their health research priorities in 9 areas. We will identify which priorities are issues of knowledge translation and which are issues of research. In collaboration with the community advisory committee (a group of TTNB adults involved in healthcare and health advocacy), we will develop the priorities into a research and knowledge translation agenda by considering metrics such as urgency and feasibility. We may also consider the priorities of specific groups, such as by gender, region, or age. This study has been designed in partnership with the Centre for Research, Education, and Advocacy for Trans Equity (CREATE) and the Healthcare Ethics & Equity Team.
How this Research Will Help 2SLGBTQ+ People and Communities
-A guide for those in research and knowledge translation to better tailor their work to the requested needs of TTNB communities
-Subsequent research and knowledge translation that better meets the needs of TTNB communities

-People who are transgender, Two-Spirit, or nonbinary
Compensation
Participants will not receive compensation. Instead, we will make a $5 donation to a community organization (up to 500 survey responses), selecting from a list of organizations.
Participant Support & Mitigation Measures
We have tried to limit any distressing questions. We also have a link to a list of crisis and mental health support resources.
How to Participate / Recruitment
Recruitment materials (poster and graphic) in both languages are being emailed by the research coordinator to community organizations serving TTNB adults in Canada as well as to the community advisory committee. Research team members will also post recruitment information in social media groups for TTNB people in Canada, that they are already members in, using the social media script provided in the initial letter of invite. Research team members will also be presenting a research poster about this project at an upcoming LGBTQ+ health conference (Summit), and will include the recruitment graphic as part of the conference poster, as well as provide physical copies of the poster for conference attendees to take if desired.
