Here are the results of a research project entitled Forgotten Lives: The Experiences of Trans and Non-Binary Older People Living with Dementia and Their Support Networks, conducted by two professors from the School of Social Work at the University of Ottawa, Marjorie Silverman and Alexandre Baril. The purpose of this research was to examine the lived experiences of trans (transgender, transsexual, non-binary, etc.) older people living with dementia and the experiences of their family caregivers, with the aim of: 1) exploring and documenting how the intersections between gender identity, cognitive disability, and age are experienced in everyday life; 2) exploring and documenting the everyday realities of the intersections of oppressions and forms of discrimination that these people experience; and 3) developing recommendations for practitioners working with these populations.

Posters summarizing the results regarding the realities of trans and non-binary people living with dementia and the realities of their carers are also available.
